A Gesture Repeated investigates how accumulation in marks, material, and labor are visible in the practice of artists across different mediums. Their attentiveness to their materials and care in their craft reveal the potency of individual attention and touch. A gesture becomes a form of nonverbal communication and repetition records time, marked by the movements of the hand and the body. The rhythm of these works share how simple marks expand when compounded and how these acts in making can bring a sense of 靜 (jìng; quiet) to our experience.
